Abstract: People lie at the heart of operational capability; attracting and retaining the right numbers of capable, motivated individuals to deliver Defence outputs is critical. This is dependent upon maintaining a credible and realistic offer that earns and retains the trust of people in Defence. In order to achieve this, all personnel must be confident that, not only will they be treated fairly, but also that their families will be treated properly with respect and be appropriately supported. Our Service children, from an early age, may experience challenges that their civilian counterparts may not; mobility within the Services can mean that children change schools more frequently and dealing with deployment and separation may also impact upon a child. Education can provide the stability to help children through these times. JSP 342 shares the policy requirements for the coordination and delivery of education to Service children overseas.
