FiMT RC Conference 2023 Award Nominations Are Now Open.

We are pleased to announce that the 2023 FiMT Research Centre Conference Awards Nominations are now open for submissions. Our annual awards proudly honour individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to evidence and research involving ex-Service personnel and their families that has a far-reaching impact on evidence, policy, and practice.

Previous winners have included Stuart Cole in 2021, awarded for his role in leading The Directory of Social Change in producing integral reports on Armed Forces Charities and the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the Armed forced sector. Professor Jonathan Bisson of Cardiff University won in 2021 for his work as Chief Investigator on a ground-breaking feasibility trial of 3MDR (modular motion-assisted desensitisation and reconsolidation), a novel therapy in treatment-resistant Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that garnered international media and academic attention.

This year, there are key changes to the award proceedings. We are proudly presenting awards in two new categories: -

The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates an individual who has contributed throughout their career to significantly advancing understanding and evidence of key issues affecting UK ex-service personnel and their families. Their work will have had a far-reaching positive impact and they will have demonstrated exceptional leadership and actively fostered collaboration and innovation in the field.

The Research Excellence Award honours an individual who has produced markedly high-quality and innovative research involving UK ex-service personnel and/or their families in the last year. There is additional credit for projects with the potential for significant future impact. We particularly encourage the nomination of early and mid-career researchers for this award.
